The United States Ambassador to Brazil, Todd Chapman, published on social networks on Tuesday night (10) a tribute to the anniversary of the US Marines. In the video, posted the day after Bolsonaro spoke of “gunpowder” to defend the Amazon, Chapmann extolled US military might and the presence of marines in several countries, including Brazil.

Bolsonaro’s speech came during a speech at an event at the Planalto Palace. Without citing the name of Joe Biden, Bolsonaro referred to the fact that the president-elect of the United States said in the electoral campaign that the country could apply economic sanctions to Brazil if the destruction of the forest is not stopped. In his speech, Bolsonaro affirmed that such a situation is not resolved only in “saliva”: “There must be gunpowder.”

The video honoring the Marines does not quote Bolsonaro’s speech. In the message, the ambassador wrote that the performance of the military allows “to build a stronger bilateral relationship with Brazil safely.”

The video shows the US Marines in well-known places in Brazil, such as Christ the Redeemer, in Rio de Janeiro, and the Esplanada dos Ministérios, in Brasilia. The ambassador stressed that the army acts in the security of the US embassy and consulates.

Chapmann’s published tribute mentions that the United States Marine Corps is the largest in the world and is always ready to strike.

“Founded in 1775, the United States Marine Corps is the largest in the world. They are always ready to respond quickly, whether by land, air or sea,” reads an excerpt from the video.
