At least 14 states have had trouble accessing the system in recent days, including São Paulo.
States still face instability in the Ministry of Health’s data system.
In the latest official balance of deaths from Covid-19 published by the State Department of Health, the entire state totaled 39,717 officially confirmed victims of the disease. But, according to the statistics registered by the municipalities, which use a different and faster update source, that figure already exceeds 40 thousand deaths.

The state government, for its part, obtains data on the deaths of all São Paulo municipalities from Sivep-Flu, the Ministry of Health system where, a decade ago, all cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) must be reported.
With the arrival of the new coronavirus pandemic in Brazil, the federal government decided that Sivep, which has already provided detailed fields on diagnostic tests and even the evolution of patients (if they were discharged or died), would be the system officially used . to consolidate daily death data.

According to epidemiology Karina Ribeiro, from the Santa Casa Faculty of Medical Sciences (FCMSC), the deaths are a good sign to monitor the pandemic because death “is an indisputable fact.”

Five days with no data on Covid-19
According to the State Health Secretariat (SES-SP), since Friday (6) the state government technicians have not been able to access Sivep-Flu to extract daily data on deaths.
“Yesterday (9), the Secretary of State for Health of SP reiterated, by letter addressed to the Ministry of Health, the request for standardization of the system. The agency had indicated the portfolio of state normalization until today (10), but this has not happened, until now, ”said the secretary shortly after 6 pm on Tuesday.
Asked by TV Globo, the Ministry of Health affirmed, at the beginning of the night, that “since the end of the afternoon of this Tuesday (10), the platform has remained stable, allowing all states to update the data related to Covid -19 and other health surveillance information ”.
Around 9:30 pm on Tuesday (10), the press office of the Ministry of Health of the State of SP also reported that the team was able to access data on Sivep-Flu cases and deaths from Covid-19 and should have updated numbers to declare this Wednesday (11).
