Coach Luiz Felipe Scolari turned 72 years old today (9), the day he saw Cruzeiro draw 3-3 with Guarani, in Mineirão, for the 21st round of Series B of the Brazilian Championship. The result of the match was not exactly the best gift for the coach, but Raposa did not lose and adds a point in the standings.

The game in Gigante da Pampulha was very busy, with six goals, expulsion after the staging of a Guaraní player and even discussion about the break.

On his birthday, Luiz Felipe Scolari was a very agitated character on the edge of the field, shouting, gesturing and guiding the Cruzeiro players, who were three times behind the scoreboard and needed to show their reaction power.

The intention of the coach was to add six points at home, since he had two games in a row at home. In addition to the Guaraní, he faces Figueirense next Friday, at 9:30 p.m.

The tie leaves Cruzeiro in 15th place with 24 points. Bugre is 13 with 25.

Who did it well: Murilo Rangel

The midfielder scored two goals in the match, the first a frame, in the corner of Fábio. The second in a play of good construction of the offensive play, with an exchange of passes between Crispim, Giovanny, until the kick of Murilo Rangel that shook the nets of Fábio.

Who went wrong: Patrick Brey

The defender has difficulty scoring and is more incisive in attack, so much so that he minimized his poor performance with the assist for Cruzeiro’s third goal, scored by Wellinton. But, it was clear that the blue left-back was a way for the Guarani to build their offensive plays. And because of Brey’s mistakes, Bugre scored twice.

Goal objected and expulsion

Cruzeiro was left behind on the scoreboard [2 a 1] when, in a play of opportunism and good positioning in the area, Willian Pottker did what coach Felipão and the heavenly fans expect a lot from him: goal.

The forward, who made his debut against Botafogo-SP, made his first game in Mineirão for Cruzeiro, and scored on his second big chance. Shortly before, Pottker had hit the crossbar with a header, after a cross from Raúl Cáceres. It was 2 to 2 at the time.

In addition to the goal, the player also took the red card. The forward was sent off eight minutes into the second half on a silly play by the referee. Dominating the ball, with his back to the mark, Pottker had his arm open and Gyovanni fell to the grass without even being hit, as the television showed, and deceived the referee who fell into his.

In five minutes Willian Pottker took two yellow cards and, consequently, the red one.

Where is Manoel?

Play resumed in the second half without defender Manoel on the field. Cruzeiro’s player took longer to return from the locker room because he needed more time in the bathroom.

Game timeline

In the 14th minute of the first half, midfielder Murilo Rangel scored a great goal. The Guaraní player received a pass from the winger Cristovam and, at first, “woke up the owl” by hitting goalkeeper Fábio’s left corner.

At 20 minutes Cruzeiro tied with defender Manoel, with a header, after a corner kick by Régis.

At 38 minutes, winger Bidu “crossed his hands” on the head of midfielder Pablo, who took Fábio on the counter and put Guaraní ahead.

In the 44th minute of the first half, Cáceres crossed, Sassá shared with goalkeeper Gabriel, and the ball was left by Willian Pottker, who tied the game: 2 to 2.

At 5 minutes into the second half, midfielder Murilo Rangel converted Guarani’s third, the second in the game, after an offensive plot that began with Crispim, passed through Giovanny, until finishing with a shot from Rangel himself.

In the 11th minute, forward Willian Pottker was sent off after a drill by Giovanny.

At 34 minutes, the boy Wellinton scored the tying goal for Cruzeiro and saved Luiz Felipe Scolari’s team from defeat: 3 to 3.
