The cartoonist Lanfranco Aldo, better known as Lan, died on Wednesday night (4) at the age of 95 in Petrópolis, in the mountainous region of Rio, due to pneumonia.

The SMH Beneficência Portuguesa Hospital in Petrópolis regretted and confirmed the death of the cartoonist at 10:35 p.m. on Wednesday. He was hospitalized since September 26, 2020.
The body arrived at the funeral home around 9:20 am on Thursday (5).
According to the family, the burial will be at 4 pm this Thursday at the Itaipava Cemetery.

Born in Italy in 1925, Lan also worked in other countries such as Argentina, Uruguay and Paris, where he worked as a photojournalist, but it was with Brazil that he fell in love.
45 years ago he had found a refuge in Petrópolis where he lived with his wife, Olivia Marinho. At his home, which is in the Pedro do Rio district, he maintained a study with more than 5,000 cartoons.

In 2019, Lan spoke with G1 and at 94 he remembered his career in art.
“Being 94 years old feels tired. You lose agility in many things, but your mind works well and I remember all my life. Not day by day, but month by month, ”he told G1.
He worked in the main newspapers, such as O Globo, Jornal do Brasil and Ultima Hora.
