After approximately an hour and a half, the surgery of former Argentine star Diego Maradona ended. According to the newspaper Clarion, the procedure was a success. Doctors Pablo Rubino, Santiago Erize and Fidel Sosa completed the team of Maradona’s private doctor, Leopoldo Luque.
Doctors pointed out the need for intervention after the diagnosis of chronic subdural hematoma. Maradona has been hospitalized since yesterday, with anemia aggravated by strong discouragement.
The operation was performed at the Olivos Clinic, a hospital in the northern region of Greater Buenos Aires. The newspaper found that the family and Maradona himself were opposed to the procedure, but as soon as the tests were carried out they ended up yielding “to clinical evidence.”
To UOL Esporte, the neurosurgeon Paulo Honda, communication director of the Brazilian Society of Neurosurgery (SBN), clarified that the condition is common in people over 60 years of age, and can be caused by any blow, even slight, to the head .
