Councilor and candidate Zico Bacana (Pode) was shot in Ricardo de Albuquerque, in the North Zone of Rio. The information was confirmed by the parliamentarian’s advisor.

Also according to his team, Zico was campaigning in a bar when he was shot. On Monday night, he had posted photos on a social network visiting a soccer field in the same neighborhood.

In addition to the councilor, two other people were injured at the scene.

Zico Bacana was transferred to the Carlos Chagas Hospital, in Marechal Hermes. Initially, the councilman’s team even claimed that he was in mortal danger. At around 9:10 p.m., he said the shot grazed Zico in the head and that he was stable.

Zico is the second vice president of the Rio Chamber and is in his second term.

Zico is at least the third person linked to the elections in Rio state to be shot last month. On October 1, Mauro Miranda, a candidate for councilor in Nova Iguaçu, in Baixada Fluminense, was shot dead. Two other people were shot in the attack.

On the last day the 31st, electoral corporal Renata Castro, from Magé, was shot dead. He was at the Niterói Federal Police station the day before to file a complaint. Upon leaving, he posted a video in which he quoted a local councilor and reported that he had been threatened by him.
