After 24 days missing and more than 30 hours of travel from Colniza (MT), a city near the border with Rondônia, to Primavera do Leste (MT), the countryman Matheus Soliman finally arrived home and was able to meet his daughter Lívia, of a week. The singer’s first daughter was born on the 24th, while Matheus was still missing in a wooded area after suffering a plane crash on October 4.
The young man, who dreams of becoming a pilot, disappeared while on a test flight between São Luís (MA) and Machadinho do Oeste (RO). For more than three weeks, he and a friend, who was also learning to fly, got lost in a closed forest. The two received help on a farm on Thursday morning (29) and returned home.
Matheus’ journey started on Thursday (29) and ended yesterday. Upon arriving in his city, the young man relates that the first thing he did was go home to meet his daughter. The young man had just seen the baby by video call on Thursday, when he used the cell phone of one of the neighbors of the farm where he asked for help to contact the family.
“I finally got to know my daughter and she is so beautiful. Much more than I imagined. It was the best feeling in the world meeting her,” says the singer, still excited.
Despite returning home, Matheus needed to be hospitalized yesterday. After going a long time without food and drinking rainwater and puddles that he found in the forest, the young man is dehydrated and malnourished. The time lost in the forest and the contact with plants and insects caused a skin infection in the young man.
“From the waist down my skin is irritated and blotchy. Also, I had a blood test that showed that I have an infection. They are medicating me with serum, vitamins and doing various other tests,” says Matheus.
The singer is in a private hospital in Primavera do Leste and must be discharged tomorrow.
“I already managed to see my parents, my wife and my daughter. But I still miss them,” he says.
The plane crash
Matheus, who is learning to fly, took off on October 4, at 7 am, from Paço do Lumiar Aerodrome (MA), bound for Machadinho do Oeste, in a PT-VJV Seneca 3 aircraft, with a passenger.
The last signal from the aircraft was registered in Paragominas, a city located 314 kilometers from Belém (PA).
According to the young man, who dreams of becoming an airplane pilot, he went to São Luís (MA) to take a pilot course. After a week of training, he and his friend, who was also a student, made a test flight between the capital of Maranhão and the city of Machadinho do Oeste (RO). About 400 km from the destination, the plane crashed and Matheus made a forced landing in the forest. The plane would have caught fire then.
