Palmeiras finally has a new coach. Abel Ferreira, now a former PAOK Greece coach, agreed with Alviverde until the end of 2022. The team, which has had no commander since October 14, when it fired Vanderlei Luxemburg after a 3-1 loss to Coritiba, in the Allianz Parque, is now one more to be guided by a foreign coach in the Brazilian Championship.
The Portuguese left PAOK in 6th position in the Greek Championship, undefeated. Furthermore, the team is competing in the group stage of the Europa League as it was disqualified in the preliminary knockout stage of the Champions League.
Before settling with Abel Ferreira, Palmeiras tried to hire Miguel Ángel Ramirez, from Independiente del Valle, Gabriel Heinze, who commanded Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield, Sebastián Becaccece, Racing, as well as Ariel Holán, from the Universidade Católica do Chile. None of them wanted to go ahead with the negotiation.
