Speaking at a hearing in the Senate on Thursday (29), Minister Paulo Guedes (Economy) reopened the season of criticism of his work in politics and the financial market. Attempting to reach his internal adversary in the government, Regional Development Minister Rogério Marinho, Guedes ended up attacking the federation that represents banks in the country, leaving financial agents tense and politicians perplexed.

The wave of discontent with the minister has already reached the ears of President Jair Bolsonaro. The president’s allies are not few, nor are they unimportant, who have said that the ideal is to begin to trace a route out of a ministerial scenario, seen as explosive, unpredictable and unreasonable.

These allies have said that Paulo Guedes, when pressured, turns the tables and redirects the pressure towards the President of the Republic himself, leading him to assume unnecessary wear and tear.

These allies say that no one expects the president to fire Paulo Guedes or remove him in the short term, but they warn that the environment is inhospitable for the Minister of Economy and that his departure would please an important wing of the center parties and, now It would no longer alarm major sectors of the market, who no longer firmly believe in Guedes’ ability to deliver on the reforms he promised shortly after the elections.
