SÃO PAULO – Republican candidate Celso Russomanno fell five points in the Ibope poll published on Friday and now has 20% of the voting intentions in the dispute over the city of São Paulo. Bruno Covas (PSDB) rose four points in relation to the previous survey, launched on the 15th, and leads numerically with 26%. The two candidates are tied on the margin of error, which is considered unlikely. The election will be on November 15.

Guilherme Boulos (PSOL) oscillated positively three points and reached 13%. Márcio França (PSB) grew four points to 11%. The two also share the third position.

The candidate Jilmar Tatto (PT) positively oscillated two points and adds 6%, technically tying with France. The PT took a bit of distancing itself from the platoon from the other candidates, but it still performs worse than any party candidate in the Sao Paulo elections at this point in the contest since 1988.

Among the other candidates, Artur do Val, from Patriota, fluctuated from 2% to 3%. The PSL candidate, Joice Hasselmann, went from 1% to 2%. The remaining candidates were left with 1% or less of voting intentions.

The percentage of voters without a candidate fell in the new poll. The percentage of those who intend to vote blank or annul went from 17% to 10% and those undecided, from 7% to 5%.

In the spontaneous survey, in which the interviewees do not have access to the list of candidates, Covas appears with 15%. Boulos appears numerically ahead of Russomanno, with 9% to 8%. France has 5%.

Ibope also calculated the valid votes, without blanks and nulls, which is how the Electoral Justice publishes the result of the election. According to this criterion, Covas has 30% and Russomanno, 23%. Boulos appears with 15% and France, with 13%.

Rejection of Russomanno, who has been exploring images of President Jair Bolsonaro during election hours, has risen eight points, from 30% to 38%. Joice appears on the list of candidates for whom the voter would not vote, behind Russomanno, with a 26% rejection. Boulos has 22%, the same rate as Levy Fidelix. Covas appears with 20%. Tatto has 18% and France, only 10%.

COVAS LEADS THE SECOND SHIFT SIMULATIONS

Current mayor Bruno Covas, who is running for re-election, is leading the runoff simulations against Russomanno, Boulos and France. In the clash with the Republican candidate, the advantage is 47% to 31%. If the confrontation is against the PSOL representative, the preference for Covas is 51% to 26% and in the duel with the PSB applicant, 45% to 34%.

In an eventual second round between Russomanno and Boulos, the Republican candidate would win by 43% to 31%, but if the clash were with France, he would lose by 43% to 34%. The PSB candidate would beat Boulos by 48% to 26%.

The margin of error is three percentage points higher or lower. The survey, conducted between October 28 and 20, was contracted by Rede Globo and the newspaper “O Estado de S. Paulo” and registered with the Electoral Tribunal under the number SP 01331/2020. 1,204 voters were heard.
