“It has been 24 days of much suffering, there is no way to explain everything we have been through. It was 24 days without eating anything. We even looked for it, but we did not find any fruit in the forest. We survived only with water from puddles and rain.”

The story is by country singer Matheus Soliman, 22. He and his friend Fábio de Souza had been missing since October 4 in a wooded area after suffering a plane crash.

Matheus was located yesterday, after being able to ask for help on a farm in Colniza (MT), a city on the border with Roraima. Now, the singer is already returning home. The trip between Colniza and Primavera do Este (MT), where his family lives, a journey of 1,250 km.

During the long journey, which should take about 20 hours, Matheus spoke to the Twitter. According to the young man, who dreams of being an airplane pilot, he went to São Luís (MA) to take a pilot course. After a week of training, he and Fábio, who was also a student, made a test flight between the capital of Maranhão and the city of Machadinho do Oeste (RO). About 400 km from the destination, the plane crashed.

“I’m a pilot in training, I know an airplane well, and since I was doing well in class, they asked me to take a test trip. So much so that I was able to deal with the accident and made a crash landing. As soon as we were able to get out of the plane, it was it set fire. My partner and I being alive is a miracle, “he explains.

Still, according to the singer, after the accident, they began walking through closed forests seeking help. They managed to remove from the aircraft only one backpack with some bottles of water.

“In the first days we found a river. We walked along its banks, but about seven days later we went into the forest and got lost, so we ended up without water. When it rained, we used leaves as a container to draw water. from rain and drink, other days we would find pools of rainwater and drink that water. We tried to make a filter with the shirt to drink this water, so as not to get dirt and grime down the throat ”, says Matheus.

As it is an area of closed forest, and he does not know the exact location of where the aircraft was forced to land, the young man does not know how many kilometers he walked until he found help. He estimates that he has traveled more than 50 kilometers.

“In the closed forest, you have no sense of location and for many days we ended up walking in a circle and getting lost many times. Keeping it psychological was the hardest. Many times we thought about giving up, we even thought about suicide, but one was giving us strength. to the other and helped calm the situation, “says the country singer.

“My greatest strength was my daughter, who was born when I was lost. Every day I asked her, ‘God, let me meet my daughter.’

Agricultural aid

It was on a farm that Matheus was able to call for help. There he received shelter, food and water. With the cell phone of one of the neighbors of the place, he managed to contact the family through a video call.

“I called my mother by video call. Twice she did not answer, only the third time she accepted the call. When she saw me, she only managed to yell ‘my son’ and started crying. I started crying from the other end of the line and was crying. At that time, my wife was next to my mother and I met my little girl, “he says.
