The mother-in-law of former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Vani Terezinha Ferreira, died on Wednesday (28) due to complications derived from Covid-19. He was admitted to the Hospital de Clínicas de São Bernardo, at ABC Paulista. Vani was the mother of Rosângela Silva, the current wife of the PT.
In a statement, the former president’s press office said Vani turned 80 on Wednesday, the same day he died.
The elderly woman contracted Covid-19 after having to be hospitalized during an episode of urinary tract infection, according to the published text. “She is a few thousand Brazilians more victims of this terrible disease,” says another excerpt from the note.
The note also informs that due to the pandemic there will be no wake. “The family, in this sad moment, thanks them for respecting their privacy.”
Rosângela and Lula have performed several tests for Covid-19 in recent weeks, since Vani’s disease was diagnosed. All the tests were negative. “The family is grateful for the attention and care that the team at the Hospital de Clínicas de São Bernardo had throughout Doña Vani’s treatment,” concludes the text.
