The minister Alexandre de Moraes, the Federal Supreme Court (STF), asked the Federal Police (Pf) information on the progress of the investigation that investigates whether the Jair bolsonaro tried to unduly interfere with the autonomy of the corporation.
The order is dated October 25, but it was only published in the course of the process last Tuesday. Moraes was selected as the new rapporteur for the investigation after Celso de Mello’s retirement on October 13.
In response to a request from the defense of former Minister Sergio Moro, the President of the Court, Luiz Fux, ordered the redistribution of the case among the ministers of the Court.
If that had not happened, the investigation would remain in the hands of the new minister Kassio Nunes Marques, who was appointed by Bolsonaro and will inherit the collection of cases that belonged to Celso. Marques’s name was approved by the Senate last week and he will take office on November 5.
Before Celso stepped down, the STF plenary session began discussing how Bolsonaro should testify in the investigation.
In his last vote as minister, Celso defended that the president, upon being investigated in the case, must be heard in person. The Attorney General’s Office (AGU) wants Bolsonaro to be able to speak in writing. The trial has not yet resumed.
