Brazil has 157,988 coronavirus deaths confirmed at 8 a.m. Wednesday (28)according to a survey by the media consortium based on data from state health departments.

Since the balance of 8 pm on Tuesday (27), 2 states have updated their data: GO and RR.

See consolidated figures:

  • 157,988 confirmed deaths
  • 5,441,210 confirmed cases

On Tuesday, at 8 p.m., the balance indicated: 157,981 confirmed deaths, 530 in 24 hours. As a result, the moving average of deaths in Brazil in 7 days was 442, the lowest mark since May 6, when it was 437. It is the first time since then that this average is below 450. The variation was -11% compared to the average of 14 days ago, indicating a stable trend in deaths from Covid-19.

In confirmed cases, since the beginning of the pandemic, 5,440,903 Brazilians have had or have the new coronavirus, of which 29,353 were confirmed on the last day. The moving average of new cases in the last 7 days was 23,727 per day, a variation of + 19% compared to the cases registered in 14 days. That is, it again indicates an increase after 7 days of stability. It is the first time since August 4 that the cases show an uptrend.

Four states show an increase in deaths: Amazonas, Amapá, Ceará and Pernambuco. Eleven other states have curves that point to a decline.

It is worth mentioning that there are states in which the low average number of deaths can generate large percentage variations. In the AP, for example, the average was 1 and remained at 1 in the two-week period, resulting in a variation of + 50%. In AM, which had the greatest variation (+ 74%), the number jumped from 9 to 16 deaths per day. Moving average data is generally in decimal numbers and rounded to facilitate presentation of the data.

  • Top (4 states): AM, AP, CE and PE
  • In stability, that is, the number of deaths did not decrease or increase significantly (12 states): PR, RS, SC, ES, MG, RJ, GO, AC, PA, TO, MA and SE
  • Falling (10 states + DF): SP, DF, MS, MT, RO, RR, AL, BA, PB, PI and RN

This comparison takes into account the average deaths in the last 7 days until the publication of this balance in relation to the average recorded two weeks ago (know the criteria used by G1 to analyze pandemic trends).
