No firefighters certificate
In the afternoon, the general commander of the Fire Brigade, Leandro Monteiro, who came to monitor the work of the military, said that the hospital “was not adequate” and had two notifications, in addition to two notices of violation issued by the corporation.
‘The hospital does not have a certification certificate from the Fire Department,’ says the commanding general
The unit, the commander concluded, “does not have a certificate of approval from the Fire Department.”
“I had already spoken with the director of the hospital. The hospital has two notices and two notices of violation with the corporation. It is very difficult, almost impossible, to intercept a hospital with approximately 600 beds, ”said Monteiro.
Report indicated issues
The Ombudsman’s Office (DPU) had already issued an alert for a possible fire at the Bonsucesso Hospital in a letter sent to the unit’s management in mid-October.

In the document, the Ombudsman asked that managers explain the fire fighting structure of the unit. A report from April this year indicated that the building had several problems that could turn into a major fire.
In another letter, the DPU asked the Fire Department to know the operating conditions of the hospital, and mainly check if there were plans for risk management and extinction of fires and panic situations.
The Federal Police opened an investigation to find out the circumstances of the fire and the interim governor of Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro, reported that the state must also investigate what happened.
“The state protocol is that, in the first place, between the Fire Brigade and the Civil Defense extinguish the fire and help the victims. Shortly after, the Civil Police enters with the entire investigation process. The phase is now research. After the expertise, we can open an investigation to find out what happened, “said the governor.
