During a participation in the online event “Um Dia pela Democracia”, organized by the Brazilian Academy of Constitutional Law (ABDConst), this Monday (26), the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, confessed that, like the president Jair bolsonaro, was also attacked by one of the emus of the Palácio da Alvorada.
In his speech, Guedes made a retrospective of the last 30 years in Brazil, which, according to him, was divided between the right, a social democracy and, finally, the left. And he made reference to the English philosopher, political theorist and mathematician Thomas Hobbes.
“It was a Hobbesian state, which represented a drag on society,” says Guedes. Hobbes is the author of Leviathan, other books in which he explains his views on human nature and the need for a strong government and society.
Guedes points out that even before the appearance of language, hominids already protected the weakest, since it is an animal instinct. It is at this point that the Minister of Economy reveals that he was attacked by an emu on the lawn of the Palácio da Alvorada.
“Today an emu attacked me. I went to try to understand why they were attacking him and saw that the emu was with the cubs. The rhea was right. The measure was to avoid the danger posed by walking on the lawn. For this reason, it is necessary to protect the most fragile ”, concludes Guedes.
