With the record of 288 new deaths in the last 24 hours, eight states showed an upward trend in the average number of deaths from covid-19. It’s the highest number of rising states in more than a month. The information comes from the consortium of press vehicles from which Twitter It is part of.

In total, the country already has 157,451 deaths since the start of the pandemic. Since yesterday, there have been 17,791 new cases of covid-19 in Brazil, bringing the total number of diagnoses of the disease to 5,411,550.

Since Sept. 24, the country has not had eight rising states, having varied only between 1 and 3 in recent weeks. Amazonas (80%), Ceará (52%) and Acre (43%) had the largest increases.

Due to this increase in the amount of hikes, the country returned to stability after 4 days in decline. There were 461 deaths on average in the last seven days, representing a stability of -8%.

There were also eight declining states in addition to the Federal District, and ten were stable states.

Among the regions, the North (28%) and South (27%) had an increase and only the Midwest had a decrease (-25%). The others remained stable: Northeast (-8%) and Southeast (-13%).

See the oscillation in the states:

  • Acceleration: AC, AM, AP, CE, PE, PR, RS and SC;
  • Stability: ES, MA, PA, PB, PI, RJ, RR, SE, SP and TO;
  • Remains: AL, BA, DF, GO, MG, MS, MT, RN and RO.

To measure the situation of deaths from covid-19, experts indicate using the moving average of deaths, which calculates the average of records observed in the last seven days. The operation is the most suitable to observe the trend of the statistics, since it balances the abrupt variations of the numbers throughout the week.

The media consortium adopted this period to verify fluctuations in the moving average. We can speak of a drop in figures when the drop is greater than 15% if it is verified in the last 14 days, in this case, the period of the last two weeks. If the numbers rise more than 15%, the epidemic accelerates. Intermediate values indicate stability.

Brazil has registered 263 new deaths from covid-19 in the last 24 hours, according to information released today by the Ministry of Health. In total, the country adds 157,397 deaths from the disease since the start of the pandemic.

From yesterday to today, there were 15,726 new cases across the country. The federal government reports that, in total, Brazil reached 5,409,854 diagnoses of the disease caused by the new corornavirus.

According to data from the ministry, 4,865,930 people recovered from the disease in Brazil, with 386,527 cases being followed.

Vehicles gather for information

In response to the decision of the government of Jair Bolsonaro to restrict access to data on the covid-19 pandemic, media Twitter, El Estado de S. Paulo, Folha de S.Paulo, O Globo, G1 and Extra formed a consortium to work collaboratively to seek the necessary information directly from the state health departments of the 27 units of the Federation.

The federal government, through the Ministry of Health, should be the natural source of these figures, but the attitudes of the authorities and the president himself during the pandemic cast doubt on the availability of the data and its veracity.
