In total, 8.6 million people have been infected with the new coronavirus in the United States since the pandemic began. The total number of deaths comes to 224,995.
According to CNN, health experts warned that the arrival of autumn in the country would cause a resurgence of cases.
“We are at a dangerous tipping point now,” Dr. Scott Gottlieb, former Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), said on CBS. “We are entering what will be the steep slope of the curve, the epidemic curve.”
Covid-19 hospitalizations in the US increased by 40% in the last month
Several US officials have already been infected with Covid-19. The most recent case is that of US Vice President Marc Short’s chief of staff, who tested positive on Saturday (24).
He is considered the “closest” contact for Congressman Mike Pence, who nonetheless kept the campaign agenda 10 days before the presidential election.
President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania have also had Covid-19. In addition to them, the diagnosis of at least 11 assistants close to the president was confirmed.
