A couple of months before the start of the summer season, the bet is to reactivate tourism, one of the sectors of the economy most affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
It is estimated that, between November and December, at least 50,000 Brazilians arrive in Argentina, with a slightly lower volume of Uruguayans and Chileans.
The country is looking at travelers who see Argentina as a destination where they have an exchange advantage, due to the devaluation of the local currency.

Just this year, the Argentine exchange market went through tubulence that led the dollar in parallel to prices above 150 pesos.
The decree that authorizes the reopening of the Ezeiza airport, on the outskirts of the Buenos Aires capital, to receive regular flights again will be published on Monday.
Tourists can only arrive by air, with the exception of Uruguayans, who can also use maritime transport.

Covid-19 proof required to board
All foreigners must present a negative PCR test to avoid the risk of contagion by Covid-19. The government is evaluating whether it will require tourists to undergo a second test upon arrival in the country.
The land borders will remain closed. Therefore, travelers will not be able to reach Argentina by road.
Lammens explained that the decision to allow the arrival of tourists from Brazil and four other countries was made due to the economic impact that the pandemic has on tourism.
– The opening of borders will allow measuring the flow of tourists and, therefore, we have decided not to open it for land entry. We will monitor how it will be as of November and how it evolves so that we can decide in relation to other countries – he explained, highlighting that the decision does not include Europe at this time.

Domestic flights resumed last week. Also starting in November, Argentines will be able to visit the country’s tourist destinations again, with the entire sector reactivated from December.
The arrival of travelers by plane from countries bordering Argentina will function as a pilot project. If it works and does not lead to Covid-19 outbreaks, it could spread to other countries and regions, such as Europe.
