A woman who worked as a caregiver in the home of an elderly woman was arrested on Thursday by agents of the Civil Police of 19 DP (Tijuca), accused of stealing an amount of approximately R $ 400,000 from a 77-year-old woman.

According to the police, on the night of the last 8, the victim, accompanied by family members, went to the police station and reported the crimes that were being practiced by the caregiver who, using her state of vulnerability, administered sedatives so that she could do bank transactions and divert much of the old woman’s wealth.

Investigations revealed that the caregiver did administer a large dose of sedatives to put the elderly woman to sleep during the days she worked at home, thereby gaining access to the victim’s bank details. The relatives estimate that the loss of the old woman exceeds the amount of R $ 400 thousand, since the action of the dam lasted months, with numerous banking transactions carried out during that period.

Faced with the evidence presented at the police station, including bank statements with transfers to the defendant’s own account, the police authority represented before the Court by the temporary arrest warrant in the judicial position. The author was arrested this morning when she was going to work at the old woman’s house.

Investigations continue to clarify the amount diverted from bank accounts, as well as the types of drugs administered to the victim. A temporary arrest warrant was issued against her, issued by the courts. After the usual procedures, the inmate was sent to the Secretary of State for Penitentiary Administration (Seap).
