Gabriel Verón took to the field last Wednesday only after Palmeiras managed to reach an agreement with the CBF, which was waiting for the forward in Itu to prepare for the Brazilian under-20 team. At 18 years, one month and 19 days old, Verón scored Palmeiras’ fourth goal in a 5-0 victory over Tigre, in the last game between the two teams in the Libertadores group stage. The goal lifted the jersey 27 to the top of the ranking held by Gabriel Jesús until the confrontation last Wednesday.

Today striker for Manchester City and the Brazilian team, Gabriel Jesús celebrated the first goal of the Libertadores on February 16, 2012, when he balanced the nets in the 2-2 draw with River Plate-URU. At the time, the former number 33 from Palmeiras was 18 years, 10 months and 13 days old. Gabriel Verón scored the goal against Tigre at 18 years, one month and 19 days.
