The governor of São Paulo, João Doria (PSDB), this afternoon refuted a statement by President Jair Bolsonaro (without a party), who affirmed that the toucan “calls himself a doctor in Brazil.”
“I want to thank President Bolsonaro for qualifying me as a ‘doctor in Brazil’, because I trust the doctor and yesterday was Doctor’s Day. That is why any reference to me, even if I am not a doctor, but as such, distinguishes me, because I believe in doctors. This is what we have been doing, trusting in doctors and science all the measures we have taken to protect lives and now the vaccine, “said Doria during a press conference at the Palácio dos Bandeirantes.
The governor also said that politicizing vaccination is not the best way and that the country needs “peace, unity and vaccines.”
What we need most in Brazil right now is peace, unity and vaccines. With peace, understanding, unity, convergence for protection, we will save thousands of lives.

“Until we have a vaccine, about 700 Brazilians will lose their lives everybody days. And thousands will be infected. We have to have a positive and constructive look at the vaccine. And think about speed, safeguarding aspects of the science for approval ”, Doria completed.
Earlier, in a conversation with Planalto supporters, Bolsonaro said that the federal government will not force the population to get vaccinated against the coronavirus.
“My minister [da Saúde, Eduardo Pazuello] I have clearly said that this vaccine will not be mandatory, period. There is a governor there who calls himself a doctor in Brazil and says it will be mandatory. I repeat that it will not be, ”Bolsonaro said.
