Back wages and eight failed games “fall” on Sá Pinto

The scenario that Ricardo Sá Pinto will find as of today, when he actually enters Vasco, will not be anything good. There are eight games without victory and with back wages, the weight of the need for change falls on the newcomer, who was officially presented last Friday (16) and represents a breath of hope for Vasco.

Still getting used to the club, he will only have two days of work before his debut, next Wednesday (21), against Corinthians, in São Januário (RJ).

Acting in the defeats against Flamengo and Internacional, Alexandre Grasseli – who will assist the coach – is betting that the energy shown by Sá Pinto will infect the squad.

“The energy with which Mister arrived is impressive. You can be sure that this desire to do well and develop a great job has been extended to everyone. I am sure we will have a positive reaction, with victories,” he told the Basque TV after the 2-0 loss to Internacional.

I was in Beira-Rio

After having his first contact with the group on Friday, the day he was presented at a press conference, Ricardo Sá Pinto traveled with the delegation to Porto Alegre (RS) together with his permanent assistant Rui Mota. The match against the gauchos continued in the Beira-Rio stadium grandstand.

The Portuguese left Grasseli comfortable to work, but insisted on giving the players an incentive before the game.

Evidently strength, encouragement, a word of confidence was given by the entire technical team of the man. We will have positive information, points to improve. There is a commission, departments feeding information to the new team. I am sure that with a short space of time we will find the path of good performances and victories, ”said Grasseli.

Four losses in a row

Of Vasco’s eight undefeated games, the last four were defeats. The dry time of Cruz-maltino’s victory is the same as the team’s top scorer with 16 goals, Germán Cano, is unbalanced.

Once one of the least filtered defenses in the Brazilian Championship, Vasco is now -4.

Hope for payment

In a participation in the channel “Machão da Gama”, last week, the president of Vasco, Alexandre Campello, highlighted the possibility of paying at least one payroll last Friday (16), something that did not happen. The promise was that, if this did not happen on this date, it would be done between today (19) and tomorrow.

The club owes the players two months’ salary and one month’s payment in installments in the first semester. As for employees, the debt is three to four months, depending on the case.

The Maltese Cross, however, considers a delay only after the 20th, something that, judicially, is not valid.

Sá Pinto, upon his departure to Brazil, was surprised to learn of Vasco’s salary situation through the Portuguese press. Asked about the issue in his presentation, he preferred to leave it in the hands of the board.
