Among the new prisoners are two parents of students from the institute where the teacher worked. According to the investigation, they argued with the educator about the cartoon of Muhammad that was displayed in the classroom.
Three people close to the aggressor and four of his relatives were also arrested, including a minor.
The case occurred on Friday, around 5 pm local time (12 pm Brasilia), near the school where the teacher taught in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, a small town of 35,000 inhabitants 50 kilometers from Paris.
According to French police sources, the man who committed the crime was an 18-year-old Russian from Chechen. The officers say they tried to arrest him after the attack, but he was aggressive, so it was necessary to open fire and kill him.

French President Emmanuel Macron visited the site and called it an Islamist terrorist attack.

The French National Antiterrorist Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation for “murder in connection with a terrorist act” and “terrorist criminal association”.
