A priest disappeared in João Pessoa yesterday morning (13) and is being searched by the police. José Gilmar Moreira, 46, had gone out to attend a funeral, but did not arrive at the scene and around noon he sent a message to a friend asking for help.
He is originally from São Paulo, but since January of this year he has been part of the Parish of Santa Teresinha, in Alto Róger, in the capital of Paraíba.
According to María Víctor, an official of the Santa Teresinha Parish, the parish house learned of the disappearance yesterday afternoon. She said the priest went to a funeral around 11:30 am and at 12:30 pm she sent a message to a friend, who is also her mission brother, asking for help.
However, the message was seen only at 3:00 p.m. and, from then on, the members of the parish went out in search of the pastor.
The official also reported that in recent days Father Gilmar did not show any behavior that indicated that he was receiving threats. The family of the missing person has already learned of the incident and is still waiting for the record.

Late yesterday afternoon a police report was registered at the João Pessoa police station.
TO TwitterKeilla Melo, deputy superintendent of PRF in Paraíba, reported that the Federal Police are analyzing images of the operating systems circuits in the region and found that yesterday, early in the afternoon, a car with characteristics similar to that of Father Gilmar it passed through the city of Mata Redonda, towards Pernambuco.
However, there is no confirmation yet that this is actually the priest’s vehicle, because the sign was not fully legible. “We are with teams making searches on the roads, to review those that have internal circuits of security cameras,” concluded the superintendent.
The Civil Police point out that any information about the case can be sent anonymously through Dial 197.
