After announcing the iPhone 12, Apple also readjusted the price of old devices for sale in the Brazilian market. Readjustment is traditional company practice after launches; prices usually go down, but in 2020 they went up.
In some cases, the increase will be more than R $ 1,000 – case of the iPhone 11 with 256 GB of storage, which previously cost R $ 5.8 thousand and now costs R $ 7.2 thousand. Most of the models, however, had increases between R $ 700 and R $ 900.
According to the company, the reason is the devaluation of the real against the dollar, which directly influences the price of the device in Brazil.
The price increase is not surprising: in September, when Apple introduced the new Apple Watch and iPad, previous generations also saw increases of up to R $ 3,000 here.
In addition to the realignment, the company also stopped selling two iPhone models on its official website: the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max, which can now only be found at authorized dealers.
With the reorganization, Apple decided to keep the following models for sale in the country: iPhone SE 2020, iPhone XR and iPhone 11. The product line will be complemented with new devices “soon,” the company said.
Support
With the arrival of a new iPhone, Apple also updated the system of its cell phones, iOS, which now reaches version 14. Among the old devices, only the iPhone 5S is no longer supported by the company. All models released from 2014 onwards continue with updates.
