The Rio de Janeiro station confirms that it did not close the broadcasting rights of the match in negotiations with the South American federations, which will be exclusive to EI Plus
The Globo group will not broadcast the match between Brazil and Peru in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, this Tuesday, at 9:00 p.m. According to the UOL website, the Rio de Janeiro radio station told editors and reporters internally that it could not conclude negotiations with the South American federations. Therefore, the display will be exclusive to Turner’s EI Plus streaming service.
According to information in the report, an internal statement on the matter informed officials of the decision to “throw in the towel.” Broadcasting professionals will not be sent to Peru and the reports will be edited using material sent by CBF TV.
Globo is still trying to reach an agreement with Mediapro, the agency that has the rights to the matches of eight national federations in the South American qualifiers, to acquire the images with the best moments.
On open TV, the program will feature the telenovela “A Força do Querer” and the series “Under pressure”. The Sportv cable channel will broadcast the Brasileirão Serie B matches.
The last time the station stopped broadcasting a Brazilian team match was in 2017, when it won the contract with CBF and the negotiations also dragged on.
