A helicopter from the National Force crashed in the Pantanal of Mato Grosso on Thursday afternoon (8), while fighting forest fires near the city of Poconé, 104 km from Cuiabá, and three crew members were injured.

The aircraft, which assisted in the work of Operation Pantanal II, had left Corumbá (MS) and had been in the Poconé region for two weeks.

In the helicopter were Commander Renato de Oliveira Souza, from the Federal District Civil Police (DF), co-pilot Luiz Fernando Berberick, from the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police (RJ), and Second Sergeant PM Emerson Miranda Martins, of the Military Police. (PM) from Rio de Janeiro.

All were rescued alive and are being transferred by helicopter from the Brazilian Navy to Cuiabá to receive medical attention from the air Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Integrated Air Operations Center (Ciopaer) in Mato Grosso.

A team from the Integrated Air Operations Center (Ciopaer) traveled to the site with Samu’s medical team to provide assistance to the victims.

The Center for the Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (Cenipa) will investigate the causes of the accident.
