Found disoriented in the community of Cantagalo, in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro, the model Eloisa Fontes, 26, did not want to accept being admitted to the Philippe Pinel Municipal Institute, in Botafogo. She was rescued by the Operation Ipanema Present team on Tuesday 6, and taken by the police and a social worker to the institution. A friend of the family, Francisco Assis, was called to take charge of the young woman’s hospitalization.
However, he was reluctant to enter the scene and speak to a doctor. Patiently, one of the agents who assisted in the rescue managed to win Alagoas’s trust and convince her to receive medical help.

– When I arrived, she stayed in the truck and did not want to leave. He looked at me and said, “I’m not going to talk to you. Talk to the authorities.” One of the policemen sat down next to her, spoke to her, gained her trust, and convinced her to go to the doctor’s appointment. She said, “I believe you.” He promised to accompany her to the office and she agreed to go. The doctor was reluctant to admit her because she was not at risk of life, but the policeman spoke with him in private, explained the story and the story, and that’s how we got hospitalization – says Assis.

The calm of the agents and the way they handled the situation impressed the family friend. Assis says that the two policemen who accompanied Eloisa to Pinel, as well as a social worker, made a difference for the model to trust them and agree to take her to the hospital. For Assis, the psychological preparation of the professionals was essential for the outcome of the case.
– They were kind, polite and have a training that I cannot explain. I was struck by the way they handled it and convinced it. Police officers David and Viveros, as well as assistant Adriana, were excellent. We only see bad stories that involve the police, but we have to praise them when they do exemplary work. In this case, they were instrumental in saving Eloisa, he says.

The model had gone before
The young woman remains hospitalized in the institution and without planned discharge. The family does not live in Rio, so Asís continues to be responsible for it. But the forecast is that the model’s mother will come to the capital of Rio de Janeiro when she is discharged by the doctors.
In June of last year, Eloisa disappeared for a season in New York. She was found five days later walking, visibly disoriented, on a street in White Plains, a town about 30 minutes by train from downtown Mahanttan.
The model has lived in the United States since February. Born in a small town in the interior of Alagoas, the model left eight siblings in Brazil to try, from a very young age, to pursue a modeling career abroad. She was married and has a daughter, Azzurra, 7, with Russian model and executive producer Andre Birleanu, 41. The two met in 2012, in São Paulo, and got married in 2014. He, who became known for her participation in the American program “America’s Smartest Model”, has custody of the child.
