Brazil registered 798 new deaths from covid-19 in the last 24 hours, with a total of 147,571 deaths. The information is from the consortium of vehicles of which Twitter It is part of.

Since yesterday 30,454 new diagnoses have been registered. The country already has 4,970,953 confirmed cases.

The moving average of deaths, calculated based on the number of deaths in the last seven days, is 652, which represents stability in relation to the variation of 14 days ago.

Five states showed an increase in the moving average of deaths and four showed a decrease. The last time Brazil had more rising states than declining states was on July 28.

The North was the only region that showed an increase (23%). However, Amazonas has reclassified deaths that occurred in previous periods, which has an impact on current data. Roraima, on the other hand, has shown considerable variations, although its daily figures appeared below 10, which influences the calculation of the state’s moving average. The same phenomenon is observed in Acre and Amapá.

The Central-West (-3%), Northeast (-7%), Southeast (-10%) and South (-9%) remained stable in the 14-day variation.

Government data

The Ministry of Health announced today that the country registered, in the last 24 hours, 819 new deaths from covid-19 and reached 147,494 deaths from the disease.

41,906 cases were reported between yesterday and today, totaling 4,969,141 diagnoses since the beginning of the pandemic.

The government considers 4,352,871 recovered cases and states that there are 468,776 patients under follow-up.

WHO: the world has not taken the coronavirus alert seriously

A report released today by the WHO (World Health Organization) indicates that the world did not take seriously the emergency declaration made by the agency on January 30 of this year on the spread of the new coronavirus.

The text criticizes the position of the leaders of the nations that make up the agency and that raised doubts about the emergency and also the politicization around the issue.

Vehicles gather to obtain information

In response to the decision of the government of Jair Bolsonaro to restrict access to data on the covid-19 pandemic, media Twitter, El Estado de S. Paulo, Folha de S.Paulo, O Globo, G1 and Extra formed a consortium to work collaboratively to seek the necessary information directly from the state health departments of the 27 units of the Federation.

The federal government, through the Ministry of Health, should be the natural source of these figures, but recent attitudes by the authorities and the president himself question the availability of the data and its veracity.
