The strong heat wave that Mato Grosso has faced in recent days has led the National Institute of Meteorology (INMET) to issue a ‘Great Danger’ alert valid until next Friday (09). The notice was published on Monday (05) and shows that in addition to Mato Grosso, the municipalities of Minas Gerais, Tocantins, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás, as well as the Federal District, will also be affected.
The body warns of the possibility of hyperthermia and, consequently, risk of death, due to the record of temperatures 5ºC higher than the average for a period of more than five days. Hyperthermia occurs when the body temperature rises above 40ºC, which can compromise or even cause organ failure.

In Mato Grosso, 88 cities suffer severe temperatures, which should only come to an end in the second half of October, with the arrival of more intense rains. For now, at around 10%, air relative humidity rates have been well below what is considered adequate for humans according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
