Dozens of people died and hundreds were injured since the beginning of the current wave of violence that broke out in Nagorno-Karabakh on Sunday, also known as Artsakh. If the conflict turns into war, it could attract the major regional powers Russia and Turkey. Moscow has a defense alliance with Armenia, while Ankara supports Azerbaijan. For this reason, the fighting, considered the most violent since 2016, provoked international unrest and led the UN, Russia, France and the United States to call for an immediate ceasefire.
