First, they ran over the Indiana Pacers. Then, they dropped MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Milwaukee Bucks. And that Sunday, they eliminated the talented Boston Celtics of maestro Brad Stevens. The Miami Heat did what few imagined there at the start of the season: They delighted without superstars but with efficient play, eliminated favorites and reached the NBA Finals for the first time in their post-LeBron James era. Qualification came with a 125-113 victory over the traditional green team, closing the Eastern Conference final at 4-2.
The big name of the night was Bam Adebayo, who appeared in a big way to lead his team with mastery, dominant in the jug of the Massachusetts team with 32 points and 14 rebounds. On Wednesday, at 10 pm, the Heat return to the court for the first game against the Lakers in the grand finale.

All the Celtics fan wanted was a consistent Jayson Tatum. That is not what happened. Despite leaving the court with 24 points and 11 assists, the ace suffered from the firefly syndrome: no points in the first quarter, 12 in the second, 5 in the third and 7 in the last. Jaylen Brown could have been a regular and, with good starts from Marcus Smart and Kemba Walker, Boston continued in the battle.
The Heat leaned on Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. And if Butler disappeared in the second half, Adebayo decided to continue his show. The pivozão was bitten, had been responsible for the defeat in game 5, and ended up redeeming himself with a night of stars. To make matters worse for the Celtics, support players like Iguodala, Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson took off in the second half.
Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart and Grant Williams made great defensive contributions, but the Miami team was determined to advance to the grand finale. In the last quarter the Heat prevailed, winning the set 37-27 and adjusting their defense by zone so that the Celtics had offensive difficulties again. The home team opened 14 points in the blink of an eye, Boston was eliminated.

Intragavel heat without crunchy time
Before game 6, four games had been decided in the so-called crunch time (score of less than 5 points in the last 5 minutes). In a deciding time of 18 minutes in the series, the Heat beat the Celtics by 23 points, winning three of the four games that ended in that situation. This Sunday, the team put on another show down the stretch, showing that it is tough when playing under pressure.
Writing for the Heat
The Miami Heat never lost a playoff series after opening 2-0. In 14 situations, the team always advanced after winning the first two games. With the victory this Friday, the Florida team continues to write.
Dream of the Heat with a heroic title
The last team to qualify for the playoffs in fifth place or less and win an NBA title was the Houston Rockets in 1995, when they beat the Magic, sixth in the West that season.
6th final followed by Iguodala
With the conquest of the position for the final with the Heat, Andre Iguodala reaches his sixth consecutive decision in the NBA. The five previous situations were for the Golden State Warriors.
(5th) Miami Heat 4 x 2 Boston Celtics (3rd)
1st quarter: the defense pushes and the Heat start up front
Determined to get off to a good start on defense, the Heat and the Celtics got off to a start to the game without much offensive production, with poor shooting and poor decisions. Heat’s defense was especially efficient, allowing just 4 points in the first 4 minutes.
Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo were the highlights of the Heat, but Marcus Smart calibrated his hand. With two shots of three in a row, he put Boston in the lead. With supporting pieces showing up well in attack, the Heat took the lead and even built an advantage. The team entered the second quarter winning 33-27.
2nd quarter: Jayson Tatum wakes up in the game, but Heat keeps the lead
Jayson Tatum had another disappointing start to the game and continued to struggle early in the second quarter. With its big bad star, Boston could not threaten on the scoreboard, despite a Marcus Smart confident in the balls from outside. In the Heat, Butler continued to deal the cards and established himself as the climax of the first half.
Tatum was able to convert his first shots, leaving zero on the scoreboard. The Celtics leaned on three balls and nailed the scoreboard, prompting coach Erik Spoelstra to call for time. Tatum quickly became the Celtics’ basket with 12 points, plus 8 assists. At the end of the first half, Heat won 62-60.
3rd bedroom – Adebayo and Iguodala shine and the Heat open a good lead
Marcus Smart had a great start to the third period, being responsible for the lead the Celtics assumed in the opening minutes. But at Heat, Butler and Adebayo’s energy and aggression paid off.
The Celtics defense could not be brilliant and Miami took advantage of it. As a result, Iguodala put on his show and his team opened 8 points. In the end, Boston managed to impose a little more defensive pressure, and at the end of the period, the Heat won by just 2 points.
Fourth quarter: Heat enters the attack, the Celtics do not react and are eliminated.
Early in the quarter, a scare for the Celtics, with Jaylen Brown feeling his leg after a dunk. The player returned to the game. With great defensive appearances from Jaylen Brown and Grant Williams, the Celtics found their best moment in the game, opening 6 points.
Tyler Herro had the coolness to make two big shots with less than 8 minutes to go, demolishing the advantage built by the Celtics. Tatum and Adebayo fought an offensive battle as the game progressed into the final minutes, the teams glued to the scoreboard.
Herro lost his balance again in the attack. The Heat’s zone defense caused problems for the Celtics, and the Florida team, in the blink of an eye, was on the scoreboard. The lead came to 14 points less than 2:30, and the Celtics’ elimination became a matter of time.
