The North Korean government said on Sunday (27) (local time) that return the remains of the South Korean man killed by soldiers of Kim Jong-un’s regime this week (learn more about the case at the end of the story).

However, Pyongyang warned South Korea that interrupt the navigation of any military vessel in Northern territorial waters. According to the note released by Pyongyang state media, operations of this type increase tension at the border and therefore exacerbate the risk of other incidents of this type.

The statement came days after Kim sent a letter of apology to South Korean President Moon Jae-in in an unusual gesture. The North Korean leader called the murder of the neighbor’s citizen “a shameful affair.”

The victim, allegedly a deserter and working in the fishing industry, disappeared on Monday (21) aboard a patrol boat that was sailing near the South Korean island of Yeonpyeong, according to a South Korean military source. Yeonpyeong is 1.5 km from the sea border with the north.

According to South Korean officials, the man’s body was burned after being found in an object floating in North Korean waters. Seoul, which called the act “atrocious”, demanded the punishment of those responsible.

On the other hand, according to Kim’s message, the North Korean soldiers fired and then only found a floating object with a lot of blood, but without the wounded man. They concluded that he was dead and burned that object following guidelines to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.
