The global vaccination plan aims to ensure the purchase and distribution of doses of the Covid-19 vaccine fairly and worldwide. Brazil joined the program after requesting an extension of the membership period for more than a week.

WHO seeks to expand the project

The director general of the WHO (World Health Organization), Tedros Adhanom, said on Monday (21) that he needs US $ 15 billion (around R $ 81 billion) “immediately” for Covax to be on the air as much as possible. before.

Tedros explained that this money will be used to invest in ACT (Tool Access Accelerator), a WHO association that aims to equitably divide vaccines, treatments and diagnostics. The organization’s goal is to have 2 billion doses of the vaccine to be distributed by the end of 2021.
