UK pubs will have to close earlier than usual from Thursday (25) as a measure to contain the second wave of the spread of the new coronavirus in the country. The guidelines will be announced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Tuesday (22).
Pubs, bars and other establishments can only serve customers at the table, not standing or at the counters. They must close until 10pm (local time). If they do not comply with the rules, the fine to the owners can reach a thousand pounds, which gives more than R $ 6.9 thousand, reports the newspaper “The Guardian”.
The British government already admits that the new wave of Covid-19 is inevitable. Medical experts said, according to the Associated Press, that the number of new diagnoses per day can reach 50 thousand in October if nothing is done immediately. On Monday, the daily average of new cases was 4,300, less than 10 times less.
In addition, the United Kingdom has announced that it will fine those who violate the quarantine imposed for having a virus or living with someone infected by the same amount. For repeat offenders, the fine can be as high as £ 10,000 – almost £ 70,000.

British officials fear that the second wave of Covid-19 will be as bad or worse than the first, between March and May. At first, the Boris Johnson government believed that it would not have to stop activities.
However, with the high number of deaths and occupations in hospitals, harsh restrictive measures were imposed. Even so, the United Kingdom was the country most affected by the new coronavirus pandemic in Western Europe.
UK could have 50,000 daily cases if it doesn’t stop viruses
For now, the increase in the number of deaths is well below that seen in the first wave of the disease. However, in an interview on Monday, the country’s top medical authority, Chris Whitty, warned that infection rates are increasing in all age groups and that therefore the daily number of Covid-19 victims in the UK may speed up again.
More than 41,800 people died in the UK from Covid-19. The total number of cases of the disease since the start of the pandemic has approached 400,000.
