Microsoft announced that it bought Bethesda and parent company ZeniMax Media on Monday (21). Bethesda has more than 2,300 people working around the world, divided between Bethesda Softworks, Bethesda Game Studios, id Software, ZeniMax Online Studios, Arkane, MachineGames, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog, and Roundhouse Studios.
The Bethesda purchase will cost $ 7.5 billion, three times the $ 2.5 billion invested in Mojang and Minecraft in 2014. The acquisition of the company is expected to close in the second half of 2021.
