The transmission rate of the new coronavirus was reached in Brazil lowest value since the start of monitoring at Imperial College London in April, according to a report by the institution published on Tuesday (15). The study shows that the index is at 0.9 – that is, each group of 100 patients with the virus infects another 90 people, which indicates a brake on Covid-19 infections.
The number, also called the contagion rate (Rt), reinforces the tendency of the pandemic to stabilize.
According to the report, the data takes into account the median of death estimates when comparing the two weeks. According to statistics, this rate can be higher (up to Rt = 1.21) or lower (up to Rt = 0.86). The institution also reports that the Brazilian authorities have revised the figures and asks that the Brazilian indices be read with caution.
Almost a month ago, on August 16, the transmission rate of the new coronavirus in the country fell for the first time to values below Rt = 1. In the following weeks, Imperial College registered small oscillations more or less. See the series below.

The daily balance on Monday (15) carried out by the media consortium based on the state health secretariats showed that Brazil has registered more than 132 thousand deaths since the start of the pandemic. The number of Covid-19 cases in the country since the first transmission exceeds 4.3 million.
Compared to 14 days ago, Brazil recorded a 28% drop in the number of new cases. In relation to new daily deaths, the country was on Monday at the limit of stability, with a drop of -15% in new confirmed deaths per day.
