The fire that destroyed the Atacadão store on Avenida Duque de Caxias, in Campo Grande, would have consumed part of the stock that would yield a profit of R $ 18 million to the wholesaler at the end of the year.
According to information obtained by the Midiamax newspaper, the store where the incident occurred would already be stocked with all the year-end stock and the merchandise, both from the shelves and from the stock in the background, would be valued in millions of reais. Everything was destroyed.
Unofficial sources reported that regardless of whether the fire was accidental or criminal, the network insurance must cover all damages and the unit must be rebuilt. In contact with the Atacadão press office, it was reported that the network does not release information on the matter and the losses are still being evaluated.
“The store had insurance, however, it is still too early to report a balance of the impacts. The company is committed to managing the situation and we will only be able to evaluate a plan for the reconstruction of the unit after a thorough technical evaluation ”, said the Atacadão advisor in a note to the report.
The fire entered a cooling phase on Monday afternoon (15) and until then, more than 400 thousand liters of water were used to fight the flames. More than 40 firefighters worked to contain the outbreaks that still existed in the building.
The tragedy could have been avoided
According to a businessman in the sector of training brigades for companies, the tragedy could have been mitigated, if the initial action of the brigades had been effective. “According to the images, there was only one line of fire in the gondola. The possibility of having put out the fire there was great if everything had started correctly. So, I wouldn’t have taken that proportion, ”he says.
“I saw that Atacadão reported that some brigadistas were in charge of the evacuation of the place and they did it very well, since there were no injuries. However, the team must be prepared to do both. [evacuar e combater as chamas] simultaneously, “he concluded.
Certification
Any company that has a team of brigades must pass the verification of the Fire Department. According to Colonel Carminati, Atacadão’s certificates were up to date. “As for the documentation, everything is fine,” he confirmed.
