Coritiba President Samir Namur said forward Sassá will be fired for just cause. The decision was made after photos of the player at a party reverberated across the internet following the 1-0 loss to Atlético, by Brasileirão. The information is from reporter Nadja Mauad, Nadja’s blog.
On loan from Cruzeiro, he must return to the Minas Gerais club. Coritiba has not officially commented, but the expectation is for a statement to be released later Monday.
According to the president, the decision was made after confirming that the photos are from last Saturday night. The player would have already been informed of the decision and his situation is with the legal department. Samir said that the dismissal for just cause is related to the fact that the player broke the quarantine in the middle of the pandemic.
– Yes, it is possible and it happened. We have already communicated it to the athlete today, with all the legal support, due to the agglomeration and the pandemic.
Sassá was still removed from the group on Sunday morning, when the football director, Paulo Pelaipe, became aware of the photos. He said he would wait to know if the photos were really from a Saturday after-classic party so he could make the final decision.

Sassá was loaned out by Cruzeiro at the beginning of the year and arrived with great contractual status from Coritiba. The player played 18 games this year, but failed to be the benchmark for the team’s attack and had highly criticized performances. This year he scored four goals, three of them for Paranaense and one for Brasileirão.
