After a night filled with fires, residents attempt to rescue animals amid the destruction.

The huge fire that hit the Chácara Pôr do Sol region and other areas of Patos de Minas left a trail of destruction. Dozens of hectares of vegetation were destroyed by the flames. This morning, residents were trying to rescue animals from the ashes.

The fire started in the morning. The Fire Department used all personnel and had the support of residents, but the dry weather and wind caused the flames to spread and made work too difficult. The use of water, floodgates and fire fighting techniques were not enough to contain the flames.

When it got dark, the flames could be seen from afar. Whole trees were burned. The smoke reached the urban perimeter. This morning, residents of Chácaras Pôr do Sol worked to rescue animals amid the ashes and many logs still on fire.

In an interview with Patos Hoje, Lieutenant Guilherme of the Fire Department reported that the fire was criminal. The size of the damage caused by burning is still rising. The case must be investigated.
