A spy pen and other materials seized during Operation Vendilhões, which investigates possible irregularities in the Filhos do Pai Eterno Association (Afipe), created by Father Robson Pereira de Oliveira, undergo a duplication procedure.
According to the Goiás Public Ministry, in addition to the pen, documents, computers, pen drives and cell phones were also collected that were kept in the priest’s accommodation. The prosecutor Sandro Henrique Silva Halfeld Barros explained that all the content of the electronic equipment must be reflected before the analysis, to guarantee the integrity of the evidence.
Also according to the prosecutor, at least 10 people have already been heard in the investigation. According to Halfeld Barros, the focus of the investigations is possible diversion of resources, concealment of values, misappropriation and ideological falsehood. The MP also investigates whether there was a transfer of money to third parties, who would have acted like oranges in the acquisition of goods.
The prosecutor also said that the analysis of documents revealed that Afipe paid R $ 17 million for the bell that was expected to be installed in the new Basilica of the Eternal Divine Father, in Trindade. The value is greater than that previously disclosed by the press.
MP indicates embezzlement of money through Afipe
According to the MP-GO, Father Robson and Afipe, created in 2004 and until then chaired by him, used “orange” and front companies to divert donations from the faithful and launder money from the entity.
In the decision that authorized Operation Vendilhões, Judge Placidina Pires affirms that, “in addition to the alleged use of donations from the faithful to acquire properties of high economic value, it seems that those investigated would be involved in an articulated criminal scheme aimed at the diversion of Afipe funds and the consequent laundering, concealment and concealment of resources, through ‘orange’ and ‘front’ companies – to make it difficult to track the money and then reimburse the damages caused by the religious entity ”.
In an interview with Fantástico, from TV Globo, on the 23rd, the priest denied that there are illegal activities. “There is no bad intention, there is no criminal activity, there is no attitude [ilícita]. Now, are they high numbers? They are. Do the numbers condemn me? No. Because everything Afipe does is within the rule, purpose and law, “said the parish priest.
According to the priest, the donation money was legally invested in real estate and other economic activities to generate more money for evangelization, instead of investing it in a bank, for example.
“We understand that the best thing would be: we are going to make real estate investments, we buy farms, livestock, we made investments that are totally within the entity’s purposes, and therefore totally legal, and that’s why we started doing it. We have reached a great level, ”said the priest to Fantástico.
