Rafael was sent off early in the game when he fouled in the middle. Soon after, the hosts opened the scoring, with Arthur Gomes, who took advantage of the failures of Mariano and Víctor. Even with one less, Atlético continued offensive and sought a tie with Allan franco. But, even in the first half, Marine Santos again put the advantage. At the end of the final stage, the attacker returned to go to the networks, in a penalty.
With the defeat, Atlético not only loses the opportunity to assume, even temporarily, the leadership of the Brazilian Championship, but it also falls from third to fourth place, with 15 points won in eight games played. This Thursday, the mining team can still be surpassed by Basque me Palms, who face Atltico-GO and Corinthians, respectively.

Goalkeepers fail and Santos takes advantage
Anyone who watches Atlantic games often knows: inside or outside the home, the technician Jorge Sampaoli propose to execute an offensive game idea. When the ball rolled in Vila Belmiro, the plan was put into practice. In the opening minutes, the team created at least three good chances to open the scoring, but it stopped at Santos’ back and goalkeeper Joo Paulo’s great defenses.
Santos also proposed to be offensive, but was cornered and managed to attack the rival in counterattacks. It was then that, at 15 minutes, a double failure of the athletic defense established a new starting scenario. In an attempt to quit the game, the right back Mariano – who regained the title from Guga – the ball retired badly. Scared, goalkeeper Rafael left the goal and gave Marinho a stroller, still in the middle. Disappeared and expelled.
Victor was later fired for the fourth time this season and replaced Marrony, who formed an attacking trio with Savarino and Eduardo Sasha. Without playing since March 7, the 37-year-old experienced goalkeeper failed the first time he was tested. At 21 minutes, forward Arthur Gomes, who has been playing in the center of the field, received in depth from the left, invaded the area and finished between the legs of the athletic goalkeeper: 1 to 0.
Even with one less player, the Atlantic did not flinch. So much so that, at the end of the first stage, he had 57% possession, 42 more passes exchanged and almost five times more finals than Santos (14 behind). Courage paid off in the 34th minute, when the steering wheel Jobson, improvised on the back, missed the ball and passed it to Sasha, who found Allan Franco on the left. From outside the area, the Ecuadorian midfielder gave way from the right and had a deflection in Alex to beat the goalkeeper and tie: 1 to 1.
The beat drops, the score changes
The changes, however, did not change the dynamics of the party. More physically complete, Santos suffered little on defense and managed to prevent Atlético from creating great opportunities. Also: threatened the opponent especially on counterattacks with the fast Soteldo and Marinho. The latter even scored a goal in the 26th minute, but the play was invalidated due to impediment.
Sampaoli, then, dared even more: he replaced the steering wheel Allan by the steering wheel Hyoran. And the team even managed to keep the ball longer and occupy the Santos field at certain times, but it did not bring danger to the goal defended by Joo Paulo. The intensity of the game dropped even more in the final stretch, when the coach Cuca chose to retire the team.
In added time, another ball out resulted in a goal. Victor was wrong and fired Junior Alonso at the “stake.” The Paraguayan defender made a penalty, in the understanding of the arbitration, which had the help of the VAR. Marinho hit well and gave the game the final numbers: 3 to 1.
