How Rio’s beaches and tourist spots are full again this Monday (7), the last day of the extended holiday.
Around 11:45 am, bathers occupied the sands of Ipanema Beach, in the South Zone of the city. Despite the restrictions on sunbathing, many locals and tourists use tents and beach chairs. There were queues even for the shower.

The decree of the mayor Marcelo Crivella only authorizes bathing in the sea, not staying in the sand.

At the Jardim Botânico, in the South Zone, many people waited to enter Lage Park around 11:50 am.

The weekend was also marked by crowding in the bars of Rio de Janeiro. In Leblon, in the South Zone, a crowd took to the streets Dias Ferreira and Ataulfo de Paiva until 3 am this Monday (7), the Independence holiday. With the sidewalks and part of the roads busy, it was difficult for drivers to pass, leading to traffic congestion.

In front of the bars, many people spoke, without a mask. The city imposed 14 fines on 28 establishments, but that didn’t stop the crowd from gathering.
A similar situation was registered in Rua Olegário Maciel, in Barra da Tijuca, West Zone of the city. It was after 1 am on Monday (7) and the crowd was still gathered at the scene.
The bars and restaurants can operate from the beginning of July, but they must obey some rules. Live music, for example, is not yet allowed. And the opening hours are until 1 am.
In Tijuca, in the North Zone, and in Lapa, in the Center, there was no movement this morning.

Phase 6 of flexibilization in Rio
On August 31, the city of Rio announced Phase 6 of easing, which was divided into three phases.
They have been authorized to reopen museums, art galleries, amusement parks, libraries and cultural centers, as long as they follow the so-called golden rules – reduced public capacity, safe distance, mandatory use of mask, availability of alcohol gel, among others.
Cinema, theater, canvases and stadiums, as well as sunbathing are prohibited.
