With the cancellation of the civic-military parade on September 7 due to the new coronavirus pandemic, President Jair Bolsonaro participates this Monday morning (7) in a ceremony at the Palácio da Alvorada to commemorate the 198th anniversary of the independence of Brazil. .
The ceremony, with the presence of government ministers, will include the performance of the National Anthem, the raising of the flag, the performance of the Anthem of Independence and the presentation of the Smoke Squad. Up to 800 people will be allowed to attend the ceremony, reported the Communication Secretariat.
A month ago, the Defense Ministry advised the Armed Forces (Army, Navy and Air Force) not to participate in this year’s events on September 7. As a result, the traditional parades that take place in the Esplanada dos Ministérios, in Brasilia, and in other cities will not take place this year.
According to the ministry, due to the coronavirus pandemic, “health authorities do not recommend promoting events that can generate crowds of people, due to the risk of contamination.”

According to the council of the Palácio do Planalto, the 23 ministers of the federal government, heads of the Armed Forces and heads of the Legislative and Judicial powers were invited to the ceremony at the Palácio da Alvorada.
In addition to the celebration at the Palácio da Alvorada, President Jair Bolsonaro will deliver a speech of approximately four minutes on national radio and television on Monday night.
