Santos beat Ceará 1-0 tonight (5), in Castelão, in a match valid for the eighth day of the Brazilian Championship. The goal was scored by Felipe Jonatan, trained in the basic categories of the Ceará club. The game was marked by four expulsions in the 90 minutes: Luan Peres and Alison, on the side of the paulistas, and Samuel Xavier and Bruno Pacheco, for the local team.
After the final whistle, Leandro Carvalho and Guto Ferreira, from Ceará, also received a red card.
With the result, Santos reached 11 points and approached the G-6 of the competition. El Pez won a match again after three rounds. Ceará stopped at ten and was overtaken by today’s rival.
Peixe returns to the field on Wednesday, at 9.30 pm, to face Atlético-MG, in Vila Belmiro. Ceará is already going to Porto Alegre to face Internacional, on Thursday, at 7.15pm.
The best: João Paulo
The Santos goalkeeper made another solid performance and saved Santos’ team several times. It was only João Paulo’s ninth game for the professional. He took a chance after Vladimir’s injury and is showing signs that he will win the job.
Who did not do well: Kaio Jorge
Menino da Vila is one of the main hopes coming from the lower categories of the club, but today he did not play well.
Game timeline
Santos opened the scoring in the eighth minute, with Felipe Jonatan in the corner after a cross from Marinho that crossed the entire area.
Santos’ game: solid in defense, team awaits Ceará
Santos performed solidly defensively, leaving little room for Ceará to create dangerous moves. Peixe opened the scoring early and, with the advantage on the scoreboard, stayed behind, looking for spaces to go out on the counterattack.
The departure from Ceará: the team struggles to create
Ceará conceded the goal early and saw the fish behind. Vozão managed to create little against Santos’ strong record despite having more ball possession for most of the game.
Ex law with respect
Formed in the base categories of Ceará, full-back Felipe Jonatan scored his second goal in 2020 after crossing to Marinho, another with a pass through the Ceará club. Regarding Vozão, the defender did not celebrate the goal.
The defending duo of Santos does not face the Gallo
Lucas Veríssimo received the third yellow card and is suspended from the clash with Atlético-MG. To make matters worse, Luan Peres was sent off, and Peixe will not have any of them available in the next round. In addition to the duo, Alison, who could improvise on defense, was also expelled. Luiz Felipe, the first substitute in the sector, is injured.
