The Federal Police (PF) arrested two people suspected of participating in the theft of $ 5 million from the Viracopos airport in Campinas (SP). The arrests were made in Rondônia and in the São Paulo capital between yesterday night (3) and today morning.

The robbery occurred in March 2018. On that occasion, the gang tore down a fence at the air terminal and brought in security guards and employees who were in the airport’s cargo area. He then stole 13 bags containing the money that the German company Lufthansa had just unloaded from a plane. A vehicle similar to those used by the concessionaire that manages Viracopos was used for the escape.

The Federal Police said they reached the two suspects after a lengthy investigation, which involved the testimony of dozens of witnesses and various expert opinions. In this process, according to the PF, the ballots were seized and “proved” that they were stolen in the robbery.

Investigations continue in an attempt to arrest other people involved in the crime.
