Video of a military policeman dancing during a live benefit went viral on social media this week. “Make your donation, I’m here dancing for you. The kids need your donation,” says the uniformed PM to Freestyle’s “Don’t Stop the Rock,” performed by the makeshift police band.

The PM who stars in the scene is Captain Duarte – Vanderluis Duarte dos Santos, 46, who has worked in the Araçatuba (SP) PM for 25 years. “A little walk, boys with the charm of dance, of black music,” he says while dancing.

The success was so great that the scene was even shared by Father Fábio de Melo. “Life goal: to have the mischievous malemolence of Captain Duarte,” wrote the religious, and was glad to see a professional “demonstrating that joy is not opposed to authority.”

“It’s a normal dance that we do since we were little, with friends, family, brothers. I didn’t think this was going to happen, ”the captain told Folha de S. Paulo. “It was at the last minute, because I was very concerned about not reaching the audience in a way that touched people’s hearts.”

The policeman has dance as a hobby and generally amuses himself this way at corporate meetings. For more than 30 years with his wife, who was his first girlfriend, he has two children and he said that he took the opportunity to show that PMs are also normal people. “I wanted to show this human side of the military police, someone who has a family life, who has feelings and who, when off duty, likes to do various different things, like anyone else,” he says.

El vivo has already collected 14 tons of non-perishable food, which will be distributed between two projects and three charities in Araçatuba (SP) and the region. R $ 14 thousand were also collected, which will be transferred to two institutions. It is possible to donate until the 11th.
