“Adjustments are always made, but I think the basis of the proposal is good. The Chamber presented yesterday [2] the leaders and the day before yesterday in the board of directors their proposal for administrative reform. I think it is time for the public service to look at the productivity, quality, efficiency of the public service and, above all, better service to the citizen, ”said Maia.
The submission of the administrative reform proposal was made official on Thursday (3) by the Presidency. The text proposes a series of changes in the civil service rules. Among them is the end of the mandatory retirement of public officials as a form of punishment.
Maia’s statement was made during a visit to Pernambuco on Thursday (3), before a meeting with Governor Paulo Câmara (PSB) and with the Secretary of State Finance, Décio Padilha, at the headquarters of the Secretary of State for Planning and Management (Seplag), in Recife.
The mayor also thanked President Bolsonaro for submitting the reform proposal. “I think Brazil needs to look at the quality of public spending, the improvement of the public service of the citizen, and that goes through a good administrative reform,” Maia said.
“We are going to start analyzing the government’s proposal now, we are going to work to soon create the Special Commission, then move on to the Constitution and Justice Commission. I am sure that Brazil needs this, it needs to organize its expenses, so it needs to quickly approve the administrative reform ”, said the deputy.

Discussed since the 2018 electoral campaign, the administrative reform has been drawn up since last year by the government.
In February of this year, Bolsonaro came to test sending the project to Congress, but he gave up and left the proposal for next year. Now the president has changed his mind.
In August, Vice President Hamilton Mourão said the government’s administrative reform proposal was ready, but that sending it to Congress depended on Bolsonaro’s “political decision.”
The delay in sending the project led to the resignation of Paulo Uebel, who was secretary of Bureaucratization, Management and Digital Government. Uebel worked on the administrative reform project, but left before the deadlock on the future of the proposal.
Economy Minister Paulo Guedes, who attended the meeting in Planalto and was with the president in the announcement, said that the presentation of the proposal by the government marks “the resumption of reforms”, and that the project “redefines the trajectory of public service “. “.
“Administrative reform is important. As the president made clear from the beginning, it does not affect the rights of current public servants, but it redefines the entire trajectory of public service for the future. Quality public service, with meritocracy, with demanding competitions, promotion by merit, “Guedes said.
