The mayor, Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ), wants more than double the time necessary for the new employees of the House to reach the highest points of their careers. He presented on Wednesday (2/9) to the party leaders and the press a proposal for administrative reform of the institution.
The ideas for reducing the Chamber’s expenses are the result of studies by a consulting firm, Falconi, who hired Maia a year ago.
According to the mayor, Chamber employees reach the peak of their careers in 10 years. The idea, according to him, is that 25 steps of progression are created, which would be annual, and that there is an average reduction of 40% in the salaries of these new employees in relation to the current ones.
Changes, if approved, will only apply to new servers. “I think you can vote well before this year’s elections,” Maia said.
The proposal also provides for the reduction of a thousand people in the House staff.
No one will be fired, but not all pensions will be replaced in future competitions.
